Gas prices up again today.

Overland Park KS- The St. Thomas Aquinas girls soccer team could be changing the local high school soccer scene. The 24 time champion Boys/Girls Head Coach Craig Ewing is taking the lead in helping stop concussions in his sport. Starting this year his girls soccer team will wear the Full90 Performance Head Guard. Coach believes this is where the sport is heading and he’s jumping out in front to get his girls used to playing with the new head guard and to keep them safe. Aquinas will be only one of two teams in the Midwest wearing the head guards this season. Biggest complaint from the girls, hair issues. The price one pays for safety. :)

{pics} #Harveyville #tornado cleanup brings out the best in people.

So my time on the ground in Harveyville KS covering the cleanup from an EF-2 Tornado was 2.5 hrs. We arrived around 2:00pm. It’s all the time we had after a last minute dispatch to the area and still get something on the air for the 5 and 6pm news. Luckily with editing now mobile with a laptop and decent 3G/4G cell service we were able to edit and feed back via FTP without any problem. Welcome to NextGen Newsgathering.

The reason I love covering these cleanup efforts is because it brings out the best in the human spirit. A spirit that doesn’t ask any questions, doesn’t want money, doesn’t care who you voted for president. It only asks, where and how can I help. It’s the greatest reassurance that human kindness is still in abundance. :)

Just a few picks from the Harveyville KS tornado cleanup.
